New article on Global Health in The Lancet Regional Health – Europe

The Biomedical Alliance in Europe published a new article in the Lancet Regional Health Europe on “Opportunities for European Medical Societies within the European Global Health Strategy.” The article reflects on the global dimension of the European Health Union and is based on the valuable insights gathered during our November 2024 global health workshop, “From the European Health Union to Global Health Improvement.”

The article emphasises the critical role of European medical societies in strengthening global health initiatives through collaboration, policy engagement, and knowledge sharing.

Some key takeaways from the article highlight the need to:

  • Strengthen collaboration among European medical societies for global health impact.
  • Address migrant health inequities and alcohol & tobacco control as urgent public health challenges.
  • Advocate for harmonised health policies and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Engage with policymakers to drive meaningful change in European and global health.
